Matters for Consideration
- Walk-a-Thon
Walk a thon date is set for Saturday April 26th and money raised will go for a new cognitive lending library program and Flinton Library’s continued growth
- Youth Program
CEO to look into starting a new Teen Youth Program for ages 13-17
Reports of Officers
- Flinton Library’s Walk-Run-Bike-A Thon set for Saturday April 26. Have made a Poster
- We have ordered 2 of the TD story walks for 2025, we may only receive 1 depending on supplies. This year’s story is called ‘Let’s Go!’. Kits can be displayed from June 9 to Labour Day
- The launch for the new Nature Discovery Backpack Lending Program through Watersheds Canada will be in May. Denbigh library will be Wednesday May 28th from 4:30-5:30am and Flinton Library will be on Saturday May 31 from 10:00-11:00 am. I have made a promotional poster for the event.
- The Children’s program for February was Valentine’s Day themed at both branches a total of 7 children enjoyed the craft
- March craft at Flinton Library was maze making, we had 6 kids with 2 curbside pickups. March craft at Denbigh library had 12 kids attend
- CEO has been working on Library Board Governance Policies to have in place before our next election. Attached are the draft copies for discussion in new business
- We have decided to add monthly projects to the Woolly Wednesday’s at Flinton Library to see if attendance will improve, April’s project will be making a tea cozy
- An Easter Adult Cricut craft will be on Tuesday April 8 at Flinton Library
- There is a CEO networking meeting on April 22.
- Recently we had someone call about applying online for a digital library card and told them we are not set up for them. After I was on Overdrives marketing site and came a crossed overdrives digital library card. I contacted OLS and asked if this service cost extra and she said that this feature is currently only available in the US.
- Flinton Library received 200.00 donation
- Township will be working on the floors at the AHCC for the next 3 weekends

· CEO has contacted the school about a volunteer youth to earn volunteer hours with leading the D&D program. She will ask around and get back to me.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS
· The ice storm that hit our area in March brought down quite a few branches at Flinton library and one hit the new fence and bent it, Township came and cleaned some of the downed branches.
· We had 4 attend the Easter adult craft and one curbside
· CEO went up to Denbigh library on April 17th to do a staff evaluation
· You now can register for a library card from our webpage, since adding this to the webpage we have had 2 register. And I have fixed the Contact Us page on our website, as we weren’t receiving any messages since it was set up. Now all submissions go to the libraries email.
· CEO has purchased a couple of new makerspace ‘STEM’ items for Flinton Libraries children’s area with some of the donation money received, Snap circuts Jr has over 100 projects and National Geographic motorized marble run
· Children’s Easter craft at Flinton had 8 attend. Denbigh’s Easter craft had 5 attend.
· CEO has put an advertisement for the upcoming library programs in the next issue of The Madawaska Highlander
· Received an email that we will be getting 2 TD Summer Reading story walk kits.

· Flinton Library’s Walk a thon raised 1720.00 funds will be going towards the new cognitive care lending kits
· CPR training is set for Tuesday May 27th in Denbigh and Thursday June 12th for Flinton
· The launch and introduction for the New Nature Discovery Backpack lending library is coming up. Denbigh’s is on Wednesday May 28, 4:30 – 5:30pm, and Flinton’s is on Saturday May 31, 10 – 11am. CEO will be attending the launch at Denbigh Library, and has send in an invite to North Frontenac paper
· CEO has advertised on facebook for a youth volunteer for the dungeon and dragons youth program
· Mother’s Day kids program in Flinton had 7 attend and Denbigh’s program had 4 attend
· After the last storm Denbigh library had a problem with their internet having no wifi. Head librarian called Bell and they were able to get it working again, but was just the staff computer. She had to call back to get the wifi working.
· Summer hours start on June 1st – Aug 31st
· CEO will be picking up some annuals for the outside flower pots at Flinton Library
· Td summer material has arrived and was delivered to Denbigh library, I will pick up Flinton’s when I go up for the launch of the nature backpacks. Td Storywalk should be shipped out this week. Launch date is June 9th
· CEO is working on updating our electronic resources pamphlet

Youth – Learn to knit program

REPORTS OF OFFICERS
6.1
· CEO went to Denbigh Library on Monday June 2 as the computers were not working right. Had to call Bell again as the wireless was not set up right. Spent a few hours working on them and was able to get all computers connected to the wireless and the printer.
· We had the launch for the Nature Discovery Backpacks and unfortunately no one showed for the Denbigh launch and we had 1 family show for the Flinton launch
· The windows at the Denbigh library have been measured for the new blinds
· Dion have inspected the fire extinguishers at both libraries
· CEO has picked up some supplies for the discovery backpack (pencil cases, colored pencils, crayons and sharpeners)
· CEO has started ordering items for the cognitive kits lending program
· Denbigh is looking at Saturday July 19th for their book sale
· Flinton’s Book and Bake sale will be on Saturday August 2nd
· On Monday June 23rd Denbigh library opened 2 hours early to be a cooling center.
· CEO Networking Meeting is set for Tuesday October 7th at Kingston Library

CEO REPORT for August 28 2025
· The new blinds have been installed at Denbigh Library
· The storm that came through Flinton on Sunday July 13th took out the library’s internet. CEO called Bell on Monday and they tried to get it working, but they said we needed a new modem. The modem arrived on Wednesday spent 1.5 hrs on the phone with Bell and we couldn’t get the modem to connect to the internet, had to have a technician come out on Thursday, he was able to get us connected, but still no wi-fi came over on the weekend and had to call Bell again they were able to remove the password, and then I was able to get the wireless working . CEO is still having a hard time getting the older computers to connect to the printer, and the one older computer that is wire direct will not connect to the internet.
· CEO received word from the township clerk on Monday July 14th that the OTF Capital grant that the library applied for was declined. Had a coaching call with the clerk about why it was declined. The application scored quite well there was just a high number of applications received. We have applied for the OTF Seed Grant for technology, (new computers and printer/fax machines and iPads).It opened July 23 to Aug 20, 2025
· Mumby’s came and pumped out Flinton library’s septic tank
· Denbigh Library book and bake sale made 486.35 and Flinton B&B sale made 676.25
· Volunteers have cleaned out the shed at Flinton library sorted the books from the book sale. Took all the large print books we had left to Pine Meadow, they were very happy with the donation
· The youth learning to knit has been a big success
· The TD Summer reading club is going great, the month of July we have had a total of 94 kids attend.
· We will be going back to the winter hours on Sept 1 until May 31
· Denbigh Library has received a $50.00 donation
· PLOG has opened on August 14, 2025 and to be completed by October 16, 2025. There were two new requirements this year, List of Board Members, position and term of appointment and the most recent by-law establishing the public library. We have submitted our application
· CEO has taken the bench at Flinton Library home and we will be re-staining it
· CEO has purchased a binding machine for Flinton library with donation money to be used in the makerspace.
· Bell Canada will be doing a site survey inspection for fiber service at Flinton library through the Connecting Libraries Initiative Grant on Thursday August 28, 2025 @ 1:oopm
· The Sticky Science program by Scientists in School was on Saturday August 23, the kids really enjoyed it. They made homemade glue, stickers, and silly putty all from items from the kitchen.

· We have submitted our GST/HST rebate claim in the amount of 1,162.63 for January 1 –June 30 and we received payment on July 31, 2025
· While submitting our 2 quarterly WSIB premiums I noticed there was a credit on the account, so the remainder of the credit is 209.39.
· We received our July phone bills and there was a credit on each account for the period of April 21 – June 30. Flinton’s credit was 70.00 and Denbigh’s was 35.00

Update on the Connecting Libraries Initiative for Flinton Library
· On August 28th a Bell technician came to the library to do a site survey to ensure that the site was ready for the fiber service. He came took a couple of pictures and told me we were not going to be getting fiber service anytime soon as there hasn’t been fiber lines installed in our area. CEO has reached out to OLS and they have reached out to their Bell contact to see if he can provide any clarity on the timeline for our area.

CEO REPORT
· The 2025 TD summer reading club survey has been submitted
· Denbigh Library has received a 500.00 donation from The Optimist Club of Stoney Creek on behalf of John Kazin. The head librarian would like to increase the junior and young adult fiction and non-fiction collection with the funds. A thank you letter has been on before of the board.
· Provincial Licensing opens Sept 24 to Oct 31.
· Both libraries will be closed on Tuesday September 30th for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
· CEO has received the 2026 Overdrive fees. Fees are based on our population and the data is from the 2021 Census. Our population is 2,534, overdrive will cost $1,355 plus tax and administration fee of 5%. Overdrive membership opens in November.
· The assistant librarian at Denbigh has completed and received the Collection Development in the Public Library course certificate. She has signed up for her second course Introduction to public libraries.
· CEO has received a list of supplies needed for the learn to draw and paint workshop, and hoping to pick them up this weekend.

Update about the Connecting Libraries Initiative
Bell has determined that network facilities are not available. To proceed, they will need to begin some or all the following steps to complete the network build:
· Design & draw
· Municipality permit & locates
· Locating placement and splicing of fibre cable
· Assessing fibre requirements
· Installing electronics
· Testing

REPORTS OF OFFICERS
6.1
CEO REPORT
· On Oct 7th CEO attended networking meeting at Kingston Public Library. Discussions were on PLOG deadline and the new requirements, Typical week for the annual survey no new questions, Connectivity grant –Funding has been increased by 78,000 this year to cover additional 30 libraries. libraries populations under 20,000 will be covered for all branches at 100%, there was a focus group activity to inform of OLS strategic Plan, round table and tour of the library
· Sticky science at Denbigh library had 11 kids participate
· The learn to draw and paint workshop is full. We have 10 youths signed up
· Adult craft at Flinton library was on Wednesday Oct 8th. The ladies enjoyed it
· We have sent our internet connectivity reimbursement form and Bell internet invoices to OLS for the funding. Deadline is October 31st.
· 2026 Theme for the Td Summer Reading Program is Dive in! Set sail on an adventure. The artist will be Andrew Kolb. There is a special webinar on Tues Nov 18,2025, Ocean week Canada Programming for Libraries to explore the resources they’re offering libraries for 2026. Ocean Week Canada is an annual national celebration of ocean events, learning and engagements held during the week of World Ocean Day (June 8), To align with the reading program theme, they are extending their public library partnership package through July and August. During the webinar more information will be on Giant floor maps and the blue learning lab, ideas for story time programs, and guidance on using the Water Ranger kits for programming and more.

- We received PLOG on Dec 19, 2023
- We have received our new e-resources for 2024. Teen Health & Wellness, Video Access Just for Kids and Novelist Select. They have been posted on our webpage and social media. All new short cut links have been put on library desktop computers
- Bookclub books have been posted on the website
- Meeting dates are attached and have been posted on website
- We have received our Ontario Park Passes for 2024 and have submitted our 2023 report
- Township has installed a wifi extender at Denbigh Community Center in order to supply wifi to Denbigh hall. Contractor that installed the extender eft a big mess in the library.
- After school coding program for ages 5-12 is starting on Feb 8th 4-5pm will run once a month on the second Thursday
- Next adult cricut craft will be Valentine’s Day themed
- Annual survey opened on Jan 23, 2024 and needs to be completed by April 30
- Leoen mentioned purchasing a vacuum for Flinton library and ordering supplies for the cricut programs
